Frequently Asked Questions: Wedding Photography, Family Portraits and More!
Jude QuinlanShare
Every professional in the industry has their own spin on the services they offer, and I’m no different! Particularly when it comes to wedding photography or family portraits here in Perth, you may want to see what my approach is like before reaching out for a quote.
Luckily for you, I’ve popped some of the most frequently asked questions from clients below. Have a browse below for my answers to all the burning questions you may have.
Weddings
Do you travel for weddings? I do indeed! I’m a photographer/videographer based in Perth, Western Australia, so a lot of my clients are based locally. However, I travel to popular wedding destinations such as the Swan Valley, and the South West region.
Do you provide high-res images? Yep, part of each of the wedding packages I offer include photos that are ready to share online, and high resolution images. These images are ready for printing and framing on your wall for you to admire for years to come.
Do we meet you before the big day? 100%. It brings me so much joy to meet every couple before the wedding to familarise myself with your unique stories and smiles. I’ll arrange a friendly catch-up online or in-person for us to chat through the details of the day, covering everything from timings, lighting and tips to help you feel at ease in front of the camera.
Do you offer engagement photoshoots? I do! My Premium Wedding Package includes an engagement photoshoot within the total package cost. Otherwise, you’re welcome to get a quote for a Perth engagement shoot separately to any of the other wedding packages I offer.
How soon after the wedding do we receive photos? I won’t leave you hanging by drip-feeding you different pics... Instead, you’ll receive 20 preview photos within 24 hours of the big day to post and share on your socials.
Turnaround times for your remaining photo album varies between one to three weeks depending on the package you have purchased.
Family Portraits
What do we wear on a family portrait photoshoot? I want you to feel comfortable in front of the camera, so there’s no need to overdress or think you need to wear certain items. I like to guide towards plain colours (logos or intense patterns can be distracting in the frame). You don’t need to match, but similar colours always tend to look more cohesive together on camera.
How long do family portraits take? Don’t stress about the restless energy of your little ones. My sessions can be done in as little as 45 minutes, ensuring that the energy is kept high and everyone’s engaged for the session.
I don’t have a ‘conventional’ family, do you cater for different families? Of course! I gladly welcome all types of family dynamics in front of my camera. My sessions are welcoming, inclusive and designed to put everyone at ease.
Where do you take your family portraits in Perth? Location is a question I leave completely up to your family. That may be in your home, at the beach, the park - the options are endless. If you’re stuck for ideas, I have a list of tried and true local spots that offer beautiful lighting and backdrops.
General
How would you describe your approach to shoots? My approach puts people first and injects a dose of energy. Smiles are never forced, and ‘cheese’ is not a word in my vocabulary. Instead, I live to capture authentic moments from all angles, for all types of occasions.
I hate having my photo taken. Any tips? You’re not alone! I’ve worked with many people over the years who are camera shy. Unless the shoot is for a headshot or portrait, I take a fly-on-the-wall approach to capturing images and filming. Rather than forced smiles, I like to capture moments as they happen in real time.
Do you work with another photographer or videographer? What you see on my website is what you get. Fresh Perspectives Media is proudly owned and operated solely by me: Jude Quinlan. Learn a little more about me and how I got into the game here.
